Laurie Berry has lived in Monroe her whole life. She has been in the healthcare field for over 35 years, and the past 10 years has owned the Monroe Home Care Shoppe (MHCS). MHCS is now well known in the Monroe and neighboring Counties providing medical equipment and supplies. She is a successful business woman and is certified to fit orthotic braces as well as breast prostheses and has years of experience with medical equipment. Laurie is well known in the community for her services with the Karmanos Cancer Institute, Mercy Memorial Hospice, Aids Awareness Council, Monroe Cancer Connection, and also her involvement with the Monroe Senior Center, the American Heart Association and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce. She has initiated and is the co-facilitator of the Monroe Ostomy Support Group, the Diabetic Support Group, and the Cancer Support Group for Women.
Laurie has been recognized in the community through the following awards: The Athena Award, 1996; Karmanos Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award, 1997, Woman of Distinction Award, 1997 and the Edgar A Guest Masonic Award for Community Service 1998 and the Small Business Person of the Year Award, 2002.
Laurie Berry's success is a result of her strong belief in “knowing the little things you do or the extra time you spend with a patient makes the patients day a little better”. She feels that you must give back to the community that supports you. She prides herself in having staff that is dedicated to providing the highest quality and personalized services to all of her customers. |
